Beloveds, I am requesting assistance to clear, source and collapse self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors. I request gate keeping for my prayers so I may heal. I commit to my healing. By the power invested in me by the name of Christ, I am claiming my freedom, sovereignty and liberation now and always.

Start a Daily Gratitude Practice to Feel Happier!

Here are some suggested tips at starting your daily gratitude practice and guidelines for feeling happier in your everyday life, no matter what challenges you face.

1. Commit to expressing Gratitude.

This is a spiritual practice that gains momentum and accumulates energy over time and with practice. The ego will find every reason under the sun why you can’t possibly commit to do this practice every day. Practicing gratitude is like taking the trash out from your kitchen and replacing that by bringing the beautiful flowers from your garden back inside. This practice shifts the energy and vibration of your mind, body and emotional state. Gratitude doesn’t seem to come as effortlessly as grumbling and complaining, which is common for an undisciplined ego mind. Waiting for the resistance to pass is futile and unproductive in setting up new and healthy habits for a positive lifestyle. Just do it.

Even when you are exhausted and can hardly summon up the energy to shift into a feeling and sensation of gratitude, when you have to force yourself to begin, this practice of gratitude still has great magnetizing power.

2. Just Do it.

Sit down with pen and paper or at your computer and start, “I am grateful for___________.” Maybe you will have to stop there for a minute and wait because you just can’t think of anything in that moment. Take a breath in, relax and allow the silence to surround you. Surrender to the moment. Something inside you will begin to shift. The feeling and the words to express them will eventually come. This force that you are tapping into is much bigger than you and it is bigger than your problem, no matter how big you believe that problem is. That tidal wave of fear that is overwhelming you is not all there is. There is something so much larger and more powerful inside you than that. Your feeling of gratitude is a bridge shining light across those dark and troubled waters to lead you to a comfortable resting place on the other side.

3. Find ways to Say it or Write it down.

In all types of relationships with others even when we are very busy, we can sometimes tell each other what we are grateful for during our conversations. Telling people how much we appreciate them, care for them, through any means of expression, whether writing emails or having phone conversations, shifts our energies and how we receive back their energies. This will create mutual reciprocal energy exchanges.

4. Wrap yourself in Gratitude. Feel it.

Some days you will write or say words without actually feeling a shred of gratitude. That is fine, just allow yourself to witness that state. Just do it anyway. In the moments you do feel the sensation and you can summon up the feeling of gratitude in your heart, let it emanate and saturate through every cell in your body. Embody the feeling of gratitude in a color that infuses your cells. Place your hands on your heart or place them in prayer. Move into the feeling of gratitude. Aspire to a fullness in your heart, no matter what is going on around you.

5. Choose a Time of Day for your Practice.

You may want to do this when you first wake in the morning or late at night before you go to sleep. As you create a regular schedule, it is easier to commit to the daily practice of feeling and listing items you are grateful for.

6. Practice Present-Moment Gratitude.

As you move through your day, pause now and then when you remember something or someone in your life that you appreciate. Hold the feeling and think how grateful you feel for having that experience in your life. As you are doing something in the day, cooking breakfast, sleeping in a bed, having time with a cherished pet, as you are in that activity, pause to think and feel “I am grateful”. Moving through your day with awareness and grace in this way will mean that when you do sit down to write your gratitude list those things will come to mind.

7. Share your Appreciation and Gratitude with Others.

Partner with someone to share being grateful. Whether a friend, your child or life partner, you will keep each other going and that sense of shared commitment to that person that will give you the push you need to write your gratitude list on those days when it just seems too hard. Reading what the other person has written helps you to access your own gratitude more easily, and it is fun to watch your gratitude lists and emails grow longer and longer and longer! You can see your progress in what you feel grateful for.

8. Don’t Stop Once you See or Feel Results!

When we first begin to see results from practicing daily gratitude lists, many people think that is the time to stop practicing gratitude for a while. The practice of gratitude has an energetic yield that will add to the positive note of your day and seep through everything you do. Practicing gratitude is a lifestyle that once you feel the gratitude for simple things in your life, stays as an attitude that you interpret events through in your life. Practicing gratitude reinforces positive thoughts and behaviors that support more positive manifestations to happen in your life.

9. Allow yourself to be Human.

Some days you may feel grumpy and grumble, if you must. You may miss a day from stating your gratitude here and there. Write “I am grateful I am writing my gratitude list” a few times if you can think of nothing else. Do not punish yourself, and beware of the little voice that says “You’ve missed a day. You’ve failed miserably at being grateful!” Dust yourself off and the next day get back up in the saddle! Do not give up!

Practicing gratitude changes your vibration and supports your mental and emotional well-being into feeling happier. So this brings us to a very important question. What really makes most people happy? How can we all find and feel more happiness in our day to day life, in the midst of all of this collective pain and confusion?

Given all the various challenges we face today, as a part of the human race, it is clear we have no real control over the external, the larger environment or the outcome. This means we must change all of our priorities to value the internal and intrinsic parts of ourselves as the most critical parts to preserve and feel happiness. This means a lot of what we can control is how we think and what we move towards. Most of our happiness relies on our personal attitudes. No matter who we are and what level of spiritual development we have, all humans can relate to these pillars in order to remember how we each can find happiness, while seeing or experiencing personal or global turmoil.

The Four Pillars for being Happy:

  • EXPANSION: Personal growth towards spiritual authenticity and having a variation of life experiences to create that expansion
  • CONNECTION: Having meaningful Human relationships and cultivating deep Connections in our life
  • GRATITUDE: Practicing appreciation and gratitude for what you have, every day
  • SERVICE: Being of Service and making Contributions to the larger whole, making a difference



Happiness and gratitude is an attitude, that we all can create more of every day. There are many things that we are facing in the world today, and in our own lives that are challenging and painful. This fact does not have to change one’s ability to feel happy every day of your life, even while seeing the larger picture. As we become more expanded in our personal growth, we begin to experience the feelings of connection with all of life. We then can choose to be grateful that we can make a difference through our intentional service to the whole.

Do not let the obstacles bring you down, instead, see them as life lessons and find out why they are there. Nothing in life is a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason because in the Universe, we are all energies that constantly cross paths with all kinds of vibrations. They are meant to be. You receive what you put out. So remind yourself, when you see a problem just like when you encounter something good, what do these signs tell you? What is the message? Find out and keep moving forward. Do not get stuck in the past and instead live in the present. And tell yourself you can turn bad into good from within when you mean it.

  1. I create my own reality.

We perceive things a certain way depending on how we look at them. If you approach people and situations with preconceived ideas or judgments, remember that these are thoughts coming from within you. No two people look at the same situation in the same way. Each individual see things the way they want to see them because it is connected to how they see themselves. So keep this in mind and work towards balancing your good and bad qualities and you will see how you create this reality and that you have the capacity and capability to direct and redirect it.

  1. I am not competing with anyone

Ambition can be a good thing if used correctly. But if you let it overpower you it can be very destructive to the point where you find yourself to be selfish and egotistical, but also unhappy and depressed in case of failure. The only thing you should be concerned with is to be a better you than you were yesterday and forget about everyone else you see as competitors and rivals. The key to self-confidence and success is to better yourself without depending on anyone or without comparing your reality to someone else’s.

  1. I don’t need anyone’s approval

We have ideas, things we want to do, places we want to go physically or spiritually, goals we want to achieve. Oftentimes we find ourselves thinking about what other people would think about us if we did. We hold ourselves back worried about other people’s judgments about us. Is it acceptable? Is it wrong? Is it selfish? But look around yourself. Do you see how many lives are on standby or miserable because people think the same exact way that you do? You are a free individual who can think for yourself and you have desires and wishes and feelings about how you can grow. Do not depend on anyone’s approval and do not let anyone’s judgment bring you down. Because just like you create your own reality, they create their own. If they choose to judge you or be mad at you it shows something about themselves, not about you.

  1. When I change my thoughts about life, I change my life

Going back to creating your own reality, as we said before, when the negativity overpowers you, you become fearful of it as it weakens you. And it destroys you and claims your happiness and personal growth. You can teach yourself manipulating the negative energy by balancing it with positive energy. Try daily meditation. It is a scientific fact that meditation reprograms our brains. In terms of neuroscience, think about all of your thoughts and feelings as branches of a tree. Only this tree is inside your brain. Just like a gardener would cut the dead branches from a tree to give way to the growth of the fresh new ones, meditation will teach you how to do that. And this is how you will learn to manipulate your bad thoughts and negativity by turning them into something better.

  1. Live each day as if it is your last

This is an advice we hear everyday but take it for granted. It is important to remember that tomorrow is not guaranteed for any one of us. If you have to forgive someone, do it, if you are angry with someone, find a way to overcome it, if you have regrets, try to find a way to make peace with yourself. Take these obstacles out of your way to give you the freedom and relief to live today in the best possible way. And don’t forget to tell the one’s you care about you love them.

7, Bad things don’t make your life bad

If you find yourself complaining too much about every single bad thing that happens to you, you will not be able to notice the good things around you. Bad things happen to everyone just like good things happen to everyone. Do not let them define your life and who you are. Accept them and take your lesson and don’t get discouraged. You are not alone. Life has its ups and downs. Happy moments and sad moments. If you only focus on the negativity, you will attract more of it.

  1. Put one foot in front of the other

You can not do everything at once but also you should not try to do something when you are not mentally ready to face it. Especially if you have problems with your self-esteem, before you take a challenge work on getting your self-esteem higher and stronger so if you fail, you can find the strength to deal with it and move on. There is a right time for everything. If you feel that the time is not right, listen to your gut feeling. And when you do, you will know how to read the signs when your subconscious tells you the time is right.

  1. You’ll never know unless you try

If you want something, ask for it. There is nothing wrong with asking. The worst that can happen is they say no. Do not be afraid of rejections. Rejections should be taken as signs that show us either we need to move on to something else or we need to better ourselves in that area. So don’t take no as a ‘bad answer’. Instead, use it to your advantage. But most importantly, do not let it affect your self-confidence. Analyze your feelings about it and find out why it made you feel bad. Then you can work on fixing it.

  1. You can do this!

Happiness, self-esteem, freedom… all these things you need are within you. You are the source of your own happiness, self-esteem and freedom. Nobody can give it to you and nothing can bring it to you either. If you put your hopes on others, what will you do when you achieve that? Since you started from a materialistic point of view, eventually that person or that something will not be enough for you and you will be back to square one. As we focus our attention inward, into imagination and visualization, relaxation ensues. The heart and the mind are put at ease. As breathing slows, as tension is released, blood pressure can normalize. In this state, our greatest fears and anxieties can be addressed.

Meditation benefits mind, body and spirit

In the January 2014 issue of JAMA Internal Medicine, researchers published a comprehensive review on the benefits of meditation. Not only is meditation observed and documented as a way to relieve anxiety, but it can also be used as a means to reduce pain and manage depression. These benefits are all possible because the sympathetic nervous system is engaged and regulated more effectively for important functions such as oxygen intake through deep breathing, a steadier heart rate and lowered blood pressure.

Burke Lennihan, a registered nurse who teaches meditation at the Harvard University Center for Wellness, says the benefits of meditation extend beyond just the physical. “True, it will help you lower your blood pressure, but so much more: it can help your creativity, your intuition, your connection with your inner self,” she says.

Various forms of meditation help people heal in different ways

Many people, not recognizing it, have engaged in forms of meditation throughout their lives to cope with big decisions and life changes. Walking meditation or prayerful meditation are two common examples where one tunes out of the material world and focuses the mind, heart or breath. The benefits of meditation are even more powerful when practiced regularly as a discipline.

Concentration mediation teaches one how to direct and focus the mind to achieve desired results. Mindfulness meditation helps one address the negative thoughts that enter the mind so they can be dealt with in a healthy manner. Heart-centered mediation helps one bring awareness to the powerful energy center in the chest, helping one manage emotions and relationship difficulties. Lennihan says meditation doesn’t have to be complex. It can as simple as doing deep breathing exercises. Meditation can be a launching pad to connect with oneself, filter out negativity, deprogram from social conditioning, or connect with others on a deeper level.

Lennihan says that it’s great to start with 10 minutes of quiet time each day, and to set aside a safe, quiet place. “You’ll build up a special feeling there, making it easier to get into a meditative state more quickly,” she says. Symbols, photos, candles, herbs, crystals, essential oils and articles of nature are often used to surround a meditation practice to make the experience more personal, centered and meaningful for the individual.

The practice of meditation is an important healing art that can be a useful vehicle for finding inner calm and inner strength in the most stressful situations in life. These self-control techniques can help one manage stress more effectively, slow the aging process and create more positive interactions with others.

Think about when you felt happiest and free…likely it was as a child. As children the world was virtually timeless – until bedtime – but now so much of our lives are scheduled that we are separated from truly makes us happy. As calendar ‘time’ went on, our bodies grew along with our enslavement to time…where we wake up every day following the same path as the previous day. We constantly look at the clock so we can stay ON TIME!

The illusion of time has forced us to give up being in the present moment, compelling us to constantly think about the future, (which as you know – may not exist.) Life as it is in this very present moment can even slightly be considered ‘real,’ and our souls are eternally evolving manifestations of NOW. Our spirits are eternal and immortal beings; hence, time is merely an illusion intended to distort mankind’s value of the present, to trap us into subservience…and to keep us in fear as low-vibrational spirits.

Prosperity and Happiness:

The great Buddha said that there are 3 types of people in the world: The totally blind, the one who can see with one eye, and the one who can see with both eyes. The latter he considered one of both wealth and happiness, who could see the light from the dark. The latter shared his wealth, and in that practice, they knew true happiness.

That being said, prosperity and happiness don’t always HAVE to be an illusion, because people have different concepts of both prosperity and happiness. To some it’s money, bearing many children, service to others, and to a few, prosperity is happiness itself.

So, where’s the disempowerment here? Since Buddha’s days, societal expectations have come to promote a greater appreciation for amassing wealth and power, which only a handful ever obtains. The masses however, still struggle to ‘keep up with the Jones,’ and ultimately many people fall into deep debt to support their consumer driven tendencies to maintain the illusion of their own personal success.

Corporations, the banking system, advertisers, politics, and other institutions absolutely love engineering new ways to keep you far from prosperity – right down to making you work and BUY the basic necessities in life! And all this fun is complemented by the system taxing every hour you work and most everything you own or buy until you die. This certainly doesn’t make me feel prosperous or happy, but rather trapped in a matrix…

TimeThe Illusion of Freedom

In a world where practically everything is sold as a commodity in some fashion, it seems that the concept of ‘freedom’ is indeed only a dream. As mentioned, necessities like food, shelter, and clothing all cost money – a man-made construct. Money requires work, and that alone takes away your freedom of choice because you have to work to pay the bills and survive, right? Well, technically, you don’t have to…and that’s a low vibrational way to look at it, but the way the system of conformity is designed, can certainly make it seem challenging to live in the present while focusing about tomorrow’s bills, work, etc.

That’s exactly how we are supposed to feel as conformists, but let’s say you cannot work or choose not to…so you rely on taking from nature to survive…that’s a crime and they toss you in jail and take away your freedom. Commit certain crimes, forget to register, don’t have an ID? Forget voting. You’d think that in a land of democracy and freedom – especially with all-time lows in voter turnout – that they’d let monkeys vote for the next batch of political puppets going into office.

And that’s the rub…the concept of democracy itself is merely an illusion with two predominant parties in the pockets of corporations who make it so easy to edge out any third party voices from serious contention. Even if this weren’t the case, politics is a multiple choice option and that’s not offering much choice or freedom to any of us.

3. You are meant to feel deeply

You are meant to REALLY feel. Don’t hold back your tears, and don’t think it is wimpy, soft, or overly sensitive to expressive yourself. It is healthy to feel deeply and to give yourself permission to experience the richness of human emotion. Feel love. Feel sadness. Don’t walk in between as you daydream, really take the time to amerce yourself in the moment. This is what life is all about.

4. Be mindful

Mindfulness is simply the focus of your attention on the present moment, but it is anything but simple. With chaotic schedules, multi-tasking and an over-worked society, it is often hard to remain in the present and not get lost in the chaos that surrounds us. Mindfulness has roots in Buddhism, but most religions and spirituality practices include some attention towards love, kindness, and appreciation for a perspective on life that is bigger than oneself.

5. Your soul wants you to know stillness

When we are still, we can truly listen. As we listen we open ourselves to understand and it is within the stillness that we can feel the greatest connection to our soul’s wisdom. That is why meditation, being still in nature and finding a quiet moment for ourselves feel so appealing. They are opportunities to connect with who we truly are. Kind, compassionate, gentle and wise. We just have to listen.

Almost everything comes full circle. People who love themselves come across as very caring, generous and kind to others too; they express their self-confidence through humility, forgiveness and inclusiveness. So seek to understand others before you attempt to judge.

As Einstein once said, “Out of clutter, find simplicity; from discord, find harmony; in the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity.” Sometimes we make life more complicated than it is. We attach our happiness to achievement and then look for it in all the wrong ways and in all the wrong places. Of course, you don’t have to live like this. If you feel like you are, it’s time to simplify things. It’s time to clear the air and get back to the basics.
